    fixing ground loops

Filed under: Tech — Nemo Fairbrother @ 10:35 pm

I’ve come to appreciate recently how incredibly arcane and esoteric ground loops are. They are currently the bain of my musical existence, when I am not fighting with CSS I am trying to fix the god-damn ground loop that has been plaguing my stereo/computer setup for a week now.

What are ground loops? Ever had a computer hooked up to your hifi only to have a horrible hiss cut across your audio? That’s probably a ground loop. I’m not going to explain any more as I’ve recently found this article on Apple docs and although I’ve read across a few audiophile websites explanations, this was the quickest, simplest and most concise.
