I’ve been thinking. I realize that this might have unfortunately caused tidal waves, famine and death but sometimes it’s necessary to the forwarding of my purposes. So what have I been thinking about? Well specifically I recently had the idea to set up a professional web-log dealing with some particular subjects I feel that I am well versed in to discuss.
I’ve been thinking about names for the site, but I realized till I fleshed out specifics of what the site should cover that there was little reason to actually name it unless the name was completely contrary to the sites content. It’s tough to tie down details of what I want to do though. So what kind of stuff do I want to cover?
- Windows Customization - Simple, flexible ways of altering Windows primarily, for the purpose of making their system more useful.
- Practical Computer Tips - Non system specific tips that inform people how to look after their computers and data.
- Scattering of Tech New - Technology news for the masses. Covering PC/Mac/Other tech related news, both software and hardware.
- Some Media News - More exotic and interesting media news like unique, small films and music that’s coming out.
- Original Content - Something that makes the site unique?
These subjects are kind of problematic. I want to write an original tech related blog that covers all these things, but at the same time I know that there are plenty of other professional blogs out there that also cover the same content. The final bullet point might be the key to making my venture different, but I’m not sure what I could do to make my site unique.
Note to self: Don’t get too caught up with a site title. This can be changed if needs be.
Maybe I could do a safety website concentrating on all things Cycle helmet related?!?!
OK, OK, I have some ideas and I’m going to go away and work on them and come back when something is a bit more developed. One idea I had was to just set up another blog on this domain and start commentating on tech news and related crap, just to get into a journalistic mood. I think I might sort that out this weekend.
Nemo out.

I’m sure I’m not the first and I am far from being very knowledgeable about it but coding for the fucking nightmare that is Internet Explorer is a pain in the ass. I realized that my site looked well dodgy in IE last night, so since then have been fixing it. It’s allowed me to clean up elements of the site that needed fixing but at the same time I’ve fucked up the formatting on the sidebar. It’s readable & usable but in my opinion will have to be totally rewritten. The other problem is of course the fucking wordpress widget system, and widget authors putting their widgets in unneeded divs. The only thing your widgets should be nested in is an unordered list. I had to go into the widgets.php to change this as the text widget was being unduly formatted because of this. Lesson for developers here, the only thing that goes in divs are main page elements. Things like menus & news items can call go in unordered lists and paragraphs. Anything else is totally inappropriate and causes problems later on.

Having got sick of trying to integrate Gallery2 into Wordpress and intrigued by photoblogging, I have launched photoblog.nemof.org. I will post new images to it at least once a week, I’m even thinking of having a weekly or monthly project in its own category. I believe that Pixelpost, the photoblogging software I have set up uses categories so watch out!
I would suggest anyone else who is interested in photoblogging check out photobloggers.org and photoblogs.org. Photo Bloggers has regional/City groups and some quite fantastic photography if you dig around! Photoblogs has excellent info on how to set up your own photoblog and is a great community discussion nexus.
Oh, and for anyone who is scratching their head as to what a photoblog is, read this.

Holy crap, I haven’t seen such a great follow up since well… forever; Well OK, Spiderman II was the bees, but this is a follow up to one of the all time cult classic movies. I don’t think I could think of a bigger gamble then pulling of a sequel to such a famous film, and not turning it into some hideous monster rail crash. Kevin Smith, you FUCKIN’ GOD!
Of course Dante and Randall are back, as are the eponymous Jay and Silent Bob. This time the action has moved from Dante’s shop to Mooby’s, a fast food joint that I am pretty sure was featured in ‘Dogma’. Mooby’s is almost unnecessary as again the dialogue takes centre stage and you begin to forget about the backdrop.
Smith still hasn’t lost his grip on that simple effective dialogue that seems to say nothing but carries you along for the ride. It suits his characters down to the ground and it’s as if we never left Dante and Randall.
It must be the way Smith rights, but Clerks II could easily have been shot a couple of days after they wrapped up the first one. It might just be me, finding Jersey particularly romantic but the camera shots and characters are very, very poignant. Flat roofed squat grey shops, wrapped up in wrinkly concrete skin, cinematically Clerks II still grips tightly that feeling of loss and small town hopelessness. A reflection the pointlessness of their wasted lives the Jersey backdrop gets me every time. Mostly because in a strange way it reminds me of Pembrokeshire, which on the whole sucks your soul out and staples it to a wall.
To say the film is funny comes short of its pure genius. I’m not a big fan of Jay and Silent Bob (not being a stoner) but without a doubt this is their finest moment (OK, OK Mallrats was the biz too). Just wait for "Goodbye Horses" by Q. Lazzarus and you’ll see what I mean. Apparently a film critic walked out of the screening when it came to a part about bestiality and anything that will do that to a film critic is something I want to see!
Needless to say, watch ‘Clerks’ before you watch this film. You might even want to watch the other Smith films to give context and because they will I can guarantee you be some of the funniest films you’ve seen, bar none. If you want more information on ‘Clerks II’ check out the Wikipedia entry.
If you are wondering about the image below it’s another still from Spiderman III, and what’s that? Yes it’s fuckin’ Spawn kickin’ ass assimilating people n’ shit. Oh my god, my pants need cleaning Gran’ma!
